The Sikes Adobe & Mule Hill Trail

San Dieguito River Park JPA

When you set out on the Mule Hill Trail near Escondido California and head east toward the San Pasqual Valley, you are traveling into an historic area which includes the Sikes Adobe Historic Farmstead dating from ca. 1870, the Town of Bernardo, and the engagement at Mule Hill, part of the December 1846 Battle of San Pasqual.

Due to the efforts of the San Dieguito River Park JPA, the Sikes Adobe farmhouse was preserved for their education, use and enjoyment. The Sikes Adobe is on its original site and was restored in 2004, then restored and rebuilt again, following the wild fire of 2007.
